Putin called Trump a "brave man" and said that he got the impression that Trump was "abused" during his first presidential term.
Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the newly elected US President Donald Trump and said that he is ready to talk with him. This statement comes in the context of tense relations between Russia and the United States of America, which further worsened after the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Putin called Trump a "brave man" and said that any initiative that contributes to ending the war in Ukraine deserves attention. At the Valdai discussion club in Sochi, Putin also commented on Trump's behavior after surviving an assassination attempt at a rally in July, saying he got the impression that Trump had been "mistreated" during his first term as president, Sky News reported.
