Dramatic footage from the streets of Amsterdam shows chaotic scenes in which fans of the Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv were ambushed by local ultras on Thursday ahead of their Europa League match against Ajax.
According to local media reports, at least ten away fans were injured in the brutal attack, while Dutch police detained several people connected to the attack.
Israel's foreign ministry said on social media that fans were "ambushed" and "brutally attacked," blaming violent "mobs" for the attack.
Footage of the incident shows people being attacked, punched and knocked to the ground, while one video shows a car hitting passers-by at high speed.
According to Israeli media reports, some of the masked attackers shouted "Free Palestine," and some of the victims' passports were stolen, writes Politiko.
