Thai Woman Rescued Moments Before Cremation After Being Found Alive in Coffin

A Thai woman was dramatically saved from being cremated alive after temple staff discovered she was still breathing just moments before the funeral ceremony was set to begin.

The woman, believed to be in her 70s, had been declared dead at home by relatives who thought she had stopped breathing following a sudden illness. Her body was placed in a coffin and transported to a local temple, where monks prepared for traditional cremation rituals.

However, as temple workers moved the coffin for the next stage of the ceremony, they noticed faint movement. Shocked, they opened the lid and found the woman still alive with shallow breaths. Emergency services were immediately called, and she was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Doctors say she remains in critical condition but confirmed that she had not passed away at the time the family believed she had. The incident has sparked discussions about medical verification procedures in rural areas, where access to formal healthcare can be limited.

Family members expressed both relief and distress, saying they were grateful she was found in time but shaken by how close she came to being cremated alive. Temple officials also described the situation as one of the most startling events they have ever encountered.

Local authorities are expected to review the circumstances surrounding the near-tragedy, while doctors continue monitoring the woman’s condition.
