German Foreign Ministry: We call on other EU countries to join sanctions against Dodik

AUTHOR:M.J. GDNUS

The spokesperson for the German Foreign Ministry, Amelie Tittel, explained the reasons for the sanctions imposed by Germany and Austria against Milorad Dodik, Radovan Višković and Nenad Stevandić.

"Attacks on the constitutional order and integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, carried out by politicians from the RS, consciously undermining the state, are not acceptable and threaten security and stability in BiH and the region. The preservation of the basic principles of the Dayton Peace Agreement, as well as the sovereignty and territorial integrity of this country, are not a matter of negotiation for the German government, because we are committed to peace and stability in the heart of Europe - Titel stated.

She also appealed to the RS authorities to "abandon their intentions, withdraw unconstitutional laws and abandon the construction of parallel structures."

"Yesterday, the Federal Government of Germany adopted a decision on sanctions and a ban on entry into Germany for three high-ranking officials of the Republika Srpska. We also ask that the European Union join the sanctions. We have taken this step together with Austria, but we also call on other EU countries to support our initiative," she explained.

They also sent a message to neighboring Serbia, which has so far publicly supported the RS leadership.

"We expect Serbia to act in accordance with its international obligations and uphold the Dayton Peace Agreement, and fight against secessionist aspirations in RS," it was announced.
