German General Carsten Breuer said in an interview with "Deutsche Welle" that, taking into account the military capabilities and the "intentions" of Russian President Vladimir Putin, it becomes clear that a Russian attack on NATO territories will be possible in 2029.
Breuer said that analyses show that Russia is increasing its military potential, including by repairing tanks, but also by producing new ones, and that it is producing a total of 1,500 tanks per year.
He explained that these tanks, as well as four million missiles, are not going to the battlefield in Ukraine, but are being stored.
- At the same time, we see that Russia will increase the number of soldiers to one and a half million in the coming years. And we are noticing new military structures, military districts that are clearly directed against the West - said the general.
As DW recently wrote, the BND and the Bundeswehr are warning more clearly than ever of the danger of a Russian attack on NATO. This is shown by analyses from several intelligence agencies that have been leaked to the German media.
General Breuer's tone sounds more concerned and alarming than before. He recently assessed that the end of the war in Ukraine will not bring a new peace on the European continent and that Russia is preparing for a major war, reports Tanjug.
