For American President Biden, the killing of Yahya Sinwar, the leader of the Palestinian militant organization Hamas, represents "a good day for Israel, the United States of America and the world."
He believes that the killing is an opportunity to free the Israeli hostages held by Hamas and to end the year-long war in the Gaza Strip. He compared the killing of Sinvar to the feeling in the US after Osama bin Laden, the leader of the al-Qaida terrorist group, was killed. In addition, for him, this is an indication that "no terrorist anywhere in the world can avoid justice, no matter how long it takes."
Biden announced that he would speak with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders to congratulate them and discuss the return of the hostages to Israel. Furthermore, he told the Palestinians that this is an opportunity to have power without Hamas, as well as for a political solution for, as he said, a better future for Israelis and Palestinians.
He praised US special operations forces and intelligence agents who helped Israel track and locate Sinwar and other Hamas leaders. He emphasized that the killing itself was an exclusively Israeli operation, reports ABC News.
