The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is planning to introduce a measure that would prohibit companies from connecting undersea communications cables to the United States if those cables contain Chinese technology or equipment, the Financial Times reported today.
"We have seen undersea cable infrastructure compromised in recent years by foreign adversaries, such as China. That is why we are taking steps to protect our undersea cables from foreign ownership, unauthorized access, and cyber and physical threats," FCC Chairman Brendan Carr said, according to the FT.
