Kamala Harris significantly increased her lead over Donald Trump

AUTHOR: M.J.
Democratic US Vice President Kamala Harris leads Republican Donald Trump 47 percent to 42 percent ahead of the Nov. 5 presidential election, widening her lead after the candidates' televised showdown on Tuesday, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed on Thursday.
The two-day poll showed Harris enjoying a five-percentage-point lead among registered voters, while she led by four percentage points in a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted between Aug. 21 and 28.
Among voters who said they had heard at least something about Tuesday's showdown, 53 percent said Harris won, and 24 percent said Trump won.
About 52 percent of respondents said that Trump stumbled and did not act skillfully, while 21 percent of them said the same about Harris.
Harris, 59, challenged the 78-year-old Trump in a heated presidential debate with a series of verbal attacks, questioning his ability to be president and highlighting his numerous legal disputes.
The survey polled 1,690 American adults nationwide, including 1,405 registered voters. The statistical error is about three percentage points for registered voters.
Although national polls, including Reuters/Ipsos, provide important insights into voter attitudes, state-by-state Electoral College results determine the winner, with a few key states likely to be decisive.
