The Russian Defense Ministry said that during the night, air defense (AVO) units shot down 26 Ukrainian drones in three regions of Russia, including the Moscow region.
"From 11 p.m. on May 4 to 2:30 a.m. on May 5, AVO systems intercepted and destroyed 26 Ukrainian drones," the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The largest number of drones – 17 – was shot down in the Bryansk region, five in Kaluga, and four in the Moscow region.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobanyin confirmed that Russian air defense units had destroyed four Ukrainian drones flying towards Moscow. According to initial reports, there were no casualties or material damage.
The incident briefly closed Domodedovo Airport, one of Moscow's main airports, but flights were quickly restored.
