The Russian Ministry of Defense announced today that its air defense forces destroyed 73 Ukrainian drones overnight, including three that were flying in the direction of Moscow.
According to the statement, most of the drones were shot down over the southwestern parts of Russia, including 31 over the Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine. The announcement was made via the ministry’s Telegram channel.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin also posted on Telegram, stating that there were no injuries or material damage, but added that emergency services were inspecting the areas where drone debris had fallen.
The Federal Aviation Agency, Rosaviatsiya, temporarily suspended operations at two airports near the capital—Domodedovo and Zhukovsky—but flights later resumed.
Operations at Moscow’s third airport, Vnukovo, were halted shortly after midnight, with air traffic restored by morning.
Kyiv did not immediately comment on the attack. Ukraine has stated that strikes on Russian territory are necessary to destroy infrastructure vital to Moscow’s war efforts, as the conflict enters its fourth year.
