Sweeping Anti-Mafia Operation Leads to Hundreds of Arrests Across Italy

Italian authorities have arrested hundreds of suspects and confiscated vast quantities of narcotics following a massive nationwide law enforcement operation aimed at dismantling organized crime networks.

Police said a total of 384 people were taken into custody during coordinated raids carried out across multiple regions. The operation also resulted in the seizure of around 1.5 tons of drugs, including cocaine, heroin, and synthetic substances, dealing a significant blow to criminal groups involved in large-scale trafficking.

The crackdown followed a lengthy investigation that traced drug distribution routes stretching from international suppliers to street-level dealers. Officials said the suspects are believed to be linked to powerful mafia-style organizations that have long dominated parts of Italy’s drug trade, using violence, corruption, and intimidation to protect their operations.
