Ukraine and Poland Praise Major EU Financial Backing as Symbol of United Front

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk welcomed a massive new European Union loan package, describing the €90 billion commitment as both a financial lifeline and a powerful signal of unity in the face of continued pressure from Russia.

Speaking after the agreement was confirmed, Zelenskyy said the funding would help Ukraine stabilize its economy, sustain essential government services, and continue rebuilding efforts amid the ongoing war. He emphasized that European solidarity was just as important as military assistance, calling the loan a clear message that Ukraine is not standing alone.

Poland’s prime minister echoed that sentiment, stressing that cooperation between Ukraine, Poland, and the wider EU strengthens regional security. He said that the greatest concern for Moscow was not individual countries acting alone, but a coordinated Europe standing firmly behind Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence.

The loan package, one of the largest financial commitments the EU has made since the start of the conflict, is expected to be distributed over several years. It will support budget needs, infrastructure repair, and longer-term economic recovery, while also reinforcing Kyiv’s path toward deeper integration with European institutions.

Both leaders framed the decision as a strategic investment in Europe’s future, arguing that supporting Ukraine now would reduce instability later. They also highlighted Poland’s role as a key logistical and political partner since the war began, noting close coordination on security and humanitarian efforts.

As fighting continues and diplomatic tensions remain high, the announcement was presented as more than a financial deal. For Kyiv and Warsaw, it was a demonstration of shared resolve — and a reminder that European unity remains a central pillar of resistance against Russian aggression.
