Bosnia and Herzegovina Deploys 100 International Officers to Strengthen Border Security

Bosnia and Herzegovina has deployed 100 border officers from several countries to reinforce control along its borders, in what officials describe as a coordinated effort to enhance regional security and manage increasing migration pressures.

The new deployment includes officers from multiple European nations, who will work alongside Bosnian border police to monitor key crossing points and improve surveillance in sensitive areas. The initiative is part of a broader plan to strengthen cooperation between Bosnia and its international partners amid growing concerns over illegal crossings and organized crime activities.

Authorities say the officers will be stationed at several major border zones, including those most affected by recent migration flows. Their presence is expected to improve response times, intelligence sharing, and the overall effectiveness of border operations.

“This is a sign of stronger regional solidarity,” officials said. “The challenges at our borders require a joint approach, and we are proud to be working closely with our partners from across Europe.”

In recent months, Bosnia and Herzegovina has seen a noticeable rise in migration attempts through its territory, prompting the government to tighten control measures. The new reinforcement is seen as a proactive move to ensure both national and regional stability.

The international officers are expected to remain in Bosnia and Herzegovina for an extended period, assisting with patrols, logistical support, and coordination between agencies.

Officials emphasize that the operation is not only about security but also about strengthening international trust and cooperation — ensuring that Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to be a reliable partner in protecting the region’s borders.
