Šaranović begins amendments to the Law on Montenegrin Citizenship

Yesterday, the Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a public call for proposing NGO representatives in the working body for the drafting of the Bill on Amendments to the Law on Montenegrin Citizenship, which formalized the intention of the ruling majority, which has long been announced by the representatives of the "For the Future of Montenegro" coalition, the former Democratic Front, writes M portal.

According to the public invitation signed by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Danilo Saranović, the deadline for the implementation of the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Montenegrin Citizenship is the fourth quarter of 2024, i.e. two and a half months remaining until the end of the year.

The excuse for making changes to the law that could destroy the demographic, political and social image of Montenegro is "harmonizing the law with the Law on International and Temporary Protection of Foreigners".

It is interesting that the Ministry of Internal Affairs published a public invitation on October 15, the day when the results of the census in Montenegro were published.
