The ruling Europe Now Movement of Prime Minister Milojko Spajić is once again facing internal party conflicts after the defeat in the last local elections in Nikšić, claim M portal sources from that party. According to them, the results of all elections since the party's founding have been analyzed and show a huge trend of falling citizens' trust in Spajić's politics in a very short time, but there was also talk of the Prime Minister avoiding appearing in Nikšić and providing support to his list, which was running independently.
M portal sources claim that Spajić appeared in Nikšić during the afternoon on election day, together with ministers Naida Nišić and Majda Gorčević, and that the original plan was for them to meet the election results there. However, when he received information that the PES list "Zdrav Nikšić" would not achieve the planned result and would fall significantly short of the previously made estimates, Spajić suddenly decided to continue with Nišić and Gorčević to Herceg Novi and celebrate the "victory" there. Namely, PES ran in the local elections in Herceg Novi in a coalition with the civic "Novski list", which has been participating in local elections in that city for years, achieving significant results and has been part of the local government for a long time, so in fact in Herceg Novi there was no contribution of PES to the number of votes won.
Unlike Herceg Novi, PES ran in local elections in Nikšić for the first time and independently with Dr. Zoran Mrkić as the leader of the list, so it was expected that due to the importance and size of Nikšić, but also the reputation that the PES list leader enjoys in the city regardless of political engagement, the support of the party leadership would be directed precisely to that city.
This was also agreed upon at the party headquarters in Podgorica, say M portal sources from PES, during the analysis of the election results and the conclusion that an unexpectedly poor result was achieved in Nikšić, especially after the drop in results in Podgorica and the debacle in Budva, and the question of the responsibility of the top leadership for such a trend was raised.
In addition to the fact that since its establishment, there has been a noticeable division in the party bodies along the "national key" into pro-Montenegrin and pro-Serbian currents, claim the portal's sources, after the local elections in Nikšić, the Presidency and Executive Board of PES have also been sharply divided over the issue of responsibility for the party's increasingly poor election results, so during the past week, at meetings of party bodies, the responsibility of Spajić himself was mentioned for the first time, as well as that of certain ministers from his party who, after receiving state positions, almost completely neglected and passively made their work in the party.
And the party's analysis of PES' results in all elections in which they participated in a coalition or independently shows a huge drop in citizen support, according to M portal.
