The Center for Civic Education strongly condemns the attack on photojournalist of the Libertas portal, Savo Prelević, who yesterday, while performing his professional task in front of the Higher Court in Podgorica, was exposed to verbal threats and pressure from Predrag Veljić, the NGO announced.
"Veljić, accused of membership in an organized criminal group led by Aleksandar Mrkić, verbally attacked Prelević because Libertas was reporting on their illegal activities.
Attacks on media workers threaten their safety and the public's right to truthful and objective information!
CCE appeals to the competent institutions to send a clear message with their reaction that attacks on journalists are unacceptable. It is the obligation of decision-makers to provide a safe environment for independent and professional journalism," CCE stated.
