Changing the name of the streets in Nikšić is an attempt to revise the anti-fascist character of Montenegro

The decision of the local authorities in Nikšić to abolish the names of the streets "Narodne heroja" and "Partizanski put", and to name one of the streets in the city after Blagoj Jovović, a member of the Bjelopavlić Chetnik Brigade, confirms that the Nikšić local administration has nothing else to offer but discord between citizens , said deputy and member of the DPS presidency Andrija Nikolić.
As Nikolić pointed out, instead of working diligently to improve the standard of living of the people of Nikšić, to serve the citizens better than their predecessors, the government headed by a young official of the pro-Serbian and pro-Russian Democratic Front continues to abuse the system of government and conduct a revision of the modern history of Montenegro.
Who else would dare to rename a street named after them in Nikšić, which gave 45 national heroes and 1,241 victims in the anti-fascist struggle, except ideological followers of those who arrested and shot one of the national heroes, Ljubo Čupić. This is not the first time that in Montenegro, after the change of government in 2020, controversial proposals to change the names of streets are trying to further influence the value reorientation of the state character of Montenegro, following the example of Serbia, which rehabilitated the Chetnik movement and people who served fascism - it is stated in Nikolić's statement.
As he stated, the citizens of Nikšić, who wanted and voted for political changes in the last local elections, today have an additional obligation to think about whether the current local administration promised them work to improve the quality of life in our municipality, or gross provocations, which they deepen divisions and open old wounds.
