Danilo Mandić's detention extended by two months

The High Court, at the proposal of the High State Prosecutor's Office, extended the detention of Danilo Mandić for two months on suspicion that he committed the aggravated attempted murder of Darko Perović and Aris Turković and the criminal offense of illegal possession of weapons and explosives - Ivana Vukmirović, an independent public relations advisor at the High Court, confirmed to Portal ETV.

Danilo Mandić is the nephew of the President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Andrija Mandić, and a member of his private illegal security.

On April 19, the suspect Mandić, while driving a parliamentary jeep, "Range Rover", near the intersection of Marka Miljanova Street and Bulevar Ivana Crnojevića, blocked the path of Podgorica residents Darko Perović and Aris Turković. After that, as the police announced, Mandić fired several shots, from which Perović and Turković received gunshot wounds in the legs.

As a reminder, Mandić was ordered to be detained due to the risk of flight, influence on witnesses and the risk of repetition of the offense.

In parallel with the investigation of the Higher State Prosecutor's Office, the Basic State Prosecutor's Office is also collecting information about the use of the official parliamentary vehicle on the night of the attack. The Prosecutor's Office should investigate whether there was any misuse in that case. As previously reported to Portal ETV, a case has been opened regarding the use of the vehicle of the Parliament of Montenegro.

Danilo Mandić is in several was in the news on several occasions. In 2022, the police were looking for him on suspicion that on February 27 of that year he attacked a police officer who had stopped a vehicle in which he was a passenger. Also, Mandić surrendered to the police in January 2021, after four months of hiding. He is wanted for illegal possession of weapons and explosives. He was also arrested in 2019 for illegal possession of weapons and explosives. In July of that year, the police checked Mandić, who was in the company of a person of interest for security, N. B. At that time, N. B. tried to evade control and escape. He threw away his "Red Flag M-70" pistol with six rounds of 7.65 mm ammunition.
