At the twenty-fifth session of the Assembly of the Royal Capital of Cetinje, the president of the Municipal Committee of the Democratic Party of Socialists Oskar Huter announced that the councilors of that party are collectively resigning and returning their mandates to the citizens.
Namely, the beginning of the session was marked by a discussion on setting the agenda. Huter requested that the session be postponed due to the situation in the city and, after they did not meet his expectations, he announced that the councilors of that party were resigning in the Cetinje parliament.
“The DPS councilors’ club is submitting a collective resignation, and it will be formally submitted to each individual,” Huter stated.
In the debate at the beginning of the session, Huter proposed that the Assembly session be postponed until the councilors receive answers to the Assembly conclusions of April 11, which they sent to the Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, which demand, among other things, a reaction to the murders in Cetinje and the resignation of the head of the security sector.
In a statement for RTV Cetinje, Huter said that the DPS councilors tried in every way to reach unity.
Our role in the parliament is meaningless, because we cannot receive answers as a parliament from the addresses to which we sent our requests. After almost three years since the first tragedy, the local parliament has not managed to come up with a single answer, to have someone take us into account, let alone implement our requests. The local parliament has done nothing, the security situation is getting worse, innocent citizens are suffering.
This parliament should, above all, deal with security. We have not managed to get answers from the relevant addresses. The local parliament does not find unity in this – Huter told RTV Cetinje.
DPS has ten councilors in the parliament there.
The councilors will be discussing the report on the work of the mayor of the Royal Capital of Cetinje, local government bodies and services for 2024 today.
