The Democratic Party of Socialists demands the immediate resignation of the President of the Parliament of Montenegro Andrija Mandić due to, as they state, a scandalous incident in which his close relative Danilo Mandić, two years ago, shot at two citizens, drove an official vehicle of the Parliament without permission and thus directly endangered people's lives, but also the integrity of the same institution.
"This is a serious crime - attempted aggravated murder, for which a member of the closest family of the President of the Parliament is suspected, which clearly indicates that this situation requires clear and unambiguous political and moral responsibility. In any democratic country, the president would resign immediately in such circumstances - not because he is legally obliged to, but because its legal parliament is not behaving", but because its parliaments do not have to hold events. press release.
Also, as he adds, "The Democratic Party of Socialists calls on the authorities to urgently investigate the abuse of official position because there is no acceptable explanation for why the official vehicle of the Parliament was in the hands of a private person, at the moment when a serious crime was committed."
"Because of all the above, it is clear that the request for the resignation of Andrija Mandić is not a matter of political scoring, but of the minimal responsibility that this position implies. It will also be interesting to see how Mandić's coalition partners will react to this issue and whether they will confirm their commitment to meritocracy and the European path in action or show that they do not have real capacity even in such extreme situations," he said.
