European Commission sends letter to Pac Mandić: Deeply concerned about support for Dodik and presence at the Pan-Serbian Parliament

AUTHOR: M.J. GDNUS

The European Commission's report on Montenegro, which was adopted by the European Parliament today, in the part relating to Montenegro's alignment with the European Union's foreign and security policy, states that there is deep concern about the participation of senior Montenegrin parliamentarians at the "Pan-Serbian Parliament".

There is also concern about public statements by senior officials in support of the President of the Republika Srpska entity, Milorad Dodik.

The item from the report that directly points to the political actions of the President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Andrija Mandić, and his party colleagues is reproduced in its entirety:

"The European Commission welcomes Montenegro's consistent and full alignment with the EU's common foreign and security policy, including the EU's restrictive measures, in particular those related to Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine and those aimed at cyber attacks, as well as its support for the rules-based international order at the United Nations level.

It also encourages Montenegro to further strengthen the implementation of these measures, prevent their circumvention and take steps to seize the assets of persons under sanctions.

It calls on all authorities to respect and promote alignment with EU values, and to refrain from any activities that could jeopardise Montenegro's strategic path towards EU membership and its sovereignty.

The European Commission expresses its deep concern about public statements by senior officials in support of the President of the Republika Srpska entity, Milorad Dodik, who is undermining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It also regrets the participation of senior Montenegrin parliamentarians in "The All-Serbian Assembly" in Belgrade, as well as their support for the declaration adopted on that occasion, which undermines the sovereignty of Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kosovo."
