Families of victims and citizens of Cetinje: Our fight for truth, justice and dignity of those who are no longer with us - will not stop

AUTHOR:M.J. GDNUS

The families of the victims and the citizens of Cetinje from the blockade at Kruševo Ždrijelo issued a statement tonight, which we are publishing in its entirety:

"We, the families of the victims of the double massacre in Cetinje – August 12, 2022 and January 1, 2025 – as well as the citizens who peacefully protest every day at the Kruševo Ždrijelo intersection, are once again addressing the public regarding last night's brutal provocation at the gathering place.

Two individuals appeared with the clear intention of humiliating the gathered citizens, provoking provocation and potential conflict. They took a photo in front of those present raising three fingers – a symbol that, in this context, cannot have any other meaning than conscious incitement to intolerance, insulting the victims and their families, and inciting national hatred.

The police and the Court of Misdemeanors reacted in an appropriate and lawful manner, as we expected, by imposing sanctions on the perpetrators of this unacceptable act.

As long as we fight for justice and refuse to remain silent, we are exposed to daily insults, lies and pressure – especially on social media – without any consequences for those who carry out these attacks.

We sincerely hope that this practice will change and that similar actions will not go unpunished in the future. Any ignoring of such incidents would be a clear incentive for those who spread hatred to continue doing so even more openly and without fear of accountability.

Our fight is not political – it is human, moral and civilizational. It is a fight for truth, justice and dignity of those who are no longer with us. And this fight will not stop, regardless of threats, insults, provocations and attempts to make our fight meaningless.

We are still here – for them, for us, for dignity. We will not stop."
