Fejzić: Eid does not call us to forget reality, but to purify it

AUTHOR:M.J. GDNUS

Eid does not call us to forget reality, but to purify it. With these words, the head of the Islamic Community in Montenegro, Rifat ef. Fejzić, began his Eid message during a sermon he held at the Osmanagića Mosque in Podgorica, where he led the Eid prayer in front of a large number of believers, reports Radio Fatih.

In the Eid sermon, the head of the Islamic Community said that Eid al-Adha symbolizes not only devotion to God, but also responsibility towards people, family, state and culture. He emphasized that the sacrifice is not a sacrifice for the sake of loss, but for the sake of preserving values that are valid - on earth and in heaven.

- Let us sacrifice stubbornness to preserve the family, indifference to protect the youth, selfish interests to strengthen the state, and the ideology of eradication to preserve the culture of memory and dignity - said Reis Fejzić, calling on believers not to leave the Eid message within the walls of the mosque.

A special part of the sermon was dedicated to the cultural heritage of Muslims in Montenegro, which, as he said, is "too often covered up instead of being preserved". Reis, as reported, spoke critically about examples of institutional ignoring of Islamic identity, referring to the still unrealized renovation of the mosque in Radulići and the systematic suppression of the mosque on the Depedogen Fortress in Podgorica.

- We are not looking for privileges, we are looking for respect. If the state does not see all its sons - it loses its voice - Reis emphasized, adding that cultural diversity is a wealth that needs to be nurtured, not hidden.

Speaking about the identity of the clock tower in Stara Varoš and the mosque on Depedogen, Reis said:

“This is not oblivion – this is historical injustice.”

Despite the criticism, it is added, Reis praised the efforts that testify to the institutional will to preserve heritage, such as the preservation of the manuscript of the Quran from the Hussein Pasha Mosque.

- He concluded the sermon with a prayer for the families, youth, homeland and people of Palestine, praying that their cry would not be forgotten and their sacrifice would not go unanswered. The live broadcast of the ceremony was carried out by Radio Television of Montenegro, for which Reis Fejzić especially thanked, emphasizing the importance of the Eid message reaching every heart and every home - writes Radio Fatih.
