Fejzić: The Islamic community asks the government to explain the decision to support the burning of the Koran

What at least shocked our public, and offended us Muslims in Montenegro, was the anti-civilization decision of our foreign policy to support the burning of the Koran as an expression of freedom of speech, said Rifat Fejzić, head of the Mosque of the Islamic Community in Montenegro.
He says that the trend of burning the Koran, which, as he said, is increasingly being equated with the expression of freedom of speech, was at least the weakest condemnation after the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) approved a resolution on religious hatred and intolerance on Wednesday. after the attempt to burn the Koran in Sweden.
Especially not in the spirit of good neighborly relations inherited by families of different religions and nations in Montenegro. This decision is certainly not an expression of the commitment of the majority of citizens, if it even occurred to anyone that justice is a democratic commitment. Who would consider burning the Koran, the Bible, the Torah or anyone else's holy book in Montenegro as an expression of any freedom - said Fejzić.
He points out that this hatred was never expressed by public burning of the holy book.
Not to idealize, there were, there are, and we reluctantly assume that there will be an outpouring of hatred towards Islam and Muslims in Montenegro. That is why we are interested in who is behind such a decision. Is it the same narrative that did not condemn the writing of graffiti on Huseinpasha's mosque in Pljevlje or Hadža Ismail's mosque in Nikšić. If those forms of "freedom of expression" could be relativized that they were the perpetrators of the same relapses of the former government, who is behind this shameful decision. In whose interest is it to bring this anti-civilizational act, which is an obvious manifestation of a hate crime, under freedom of expression - asks Fejzić.
In order to shed light on this decision, the Islamic community asks the Government to publicly present the explanation of the decision.
Who is behind this decision and what guided him in supporting this anti-civilization act? We want to believe that this is not the official position of the Government, and if it is, we would like to hear its explanation. In this way, we would close the space for different interpretations that would lead us to new stratifications within our society with another form of false democratization and freedom, behind which the incitement of hatred and intolerance is hidden - concluded Fejzić.
