Ibrahimović: Krivokapić is a desirable and useful advisor, the Prime Minister did not have to know about his appointment

Former long-time Speaker of the Parliament Ranko Krivokapić has been employed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an ambassador-advisor, Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović confirmed to Dan, emphasizing that he was hired for a fixed term of two years, and that his work engagement began on December 16 last year.

Ibrahimović emphasized that the appointment of an advisor of that rank is the autonomous right of the minister.

"I have appointed a man who has been elected as the Speaker of the Parliament four times. In 120 years of parliamentarism in Montenegro, he has been the Speaker of the Parliament four times. He is the former Speaker of the largest parliamentary assembly in the world - the OSCE, he was the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the 43rd Government and for more than three decades a member of the Parliament of Montenegro. He was a member of the Parliament in both the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Serbia and Montenegro. So, we can safely say that a man with respectable experience and significant domestic and international connections is a desirable and useful advisor - said Ibrahimović.

He pointed out that we are all witnesses that in the political past Ranko Krivokapić had clear views on the direction in which Montenegro is heading today.

"And in this there is agreement from the current Government - independence, democracy, the European path and NATO membership. So, it is more than clear that the former Speaker of the Parliament can only contribute to Montenegro's European path. And it is important for me to say that Montenegro is currently in a very challenging moment. Anyone who, with their experience, knowledge, connections and position, can contribute to the achievement of the strategic goal of our country - membership in the European Union by 2028 - to the satisfaction of all citizens of Montenegro who want a prosperous and European future in this society - emphasized the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Ibrahimović underlined that these are the most important reasons why Ranko Krivokapić was appointed as an advisor.

"I think that with his vast experience - but above all, his clear positions when it comes to Montenegro's foreign policy, he can only contribute, and in no way harm our path towards the European Union - he emphasizes.

Responding to the question of whether Prime Minister Milojko Spajić knew that Ranko Krivokapić was an advisor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahimović says that the Prime Minister does not have to know, because the appointment to that position is the autonomous right of the minister.

"There are no disagreements between me and the Prime Minister. Our relationship is, above all, recognized as very professional and correct. "We have always had quality cooperation, and I think we are both doing what is stipulated by the Constitution and doing it to the best of our ability. I think I am working at full capacity and that the Prime Minister recognizes that. For the position to which Krivokapić was appointed, I am not even obliged to consult with colleagues from the Government," Ibrahimović said.
