Ivanović-Eskobar: US support reforms that will accelerate the European path of Montenegro

The United States supports the European path of Montenegro and efforts to become a full member of the European Union, it was pointed out during the meeting of the FIlip Ivanović Minister with the US Secretary of State Secretary in Gabrijel Eskobar in Washington.

Eskobar said that the United States, as a friendly country and ally, Montenegro, is looking forward to all our progress towards EU membership.

He welcomed the commitment to active and credible membership in NATO, good neighborly relations and security in the Western Balkans, as well as the full compliance of Montenegro with a common external and security policy.

Ivanović said that Montenegro would continue to be the US partner, and informed the Eskobar on the current results of the 44th government, especially in the reactivation of the process of negotiations with the EU and reforms in the key chapters 23 and 24.

In a short period of time, we have shown that we are a government that achieves results. Montenegro is making progress, the questions of the Judicial Bodies have buried the functioning of the judiciary, and continue resolving with the realization of EU agenda-emphasis.

There were words on the date on the current political situation in the region.

The importance of the amplified interest of the US Administration for Stability and the Further Development of the Western Balkans was highlighted, and there were also words on Russian aggression in Ukraine and the influence of the war on the EU's survival policy, as well as the security of the European continent.

Ivanovic also met with the Congress in Dago Lamborborn, with whom he discussed the importance of lasting stability in the region and the constructive role of Montenegro in nurturing good neighborly relations and regional cooperation.

On the third day of workshop in Washington, the Minister visited the Heritage Foundation.

During the meeting, opinions were exchanged on political, economic and security issues in the Western Balkans, as well as current global challenges, and the possibilities of additional contact and cooperation between Montenegro and the United States, especially in areas of security, energy, tourism and education.
