MILATOVIĆ WITH MUSAR: The relations between Montenegro and Slovenia is based on mutual support and cooperation

Montenegro and Slovenia develop constructive cooperation in all bilateral fields, which has been strengthened by the Alliance within NATO, said President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović.

Milatovic, as he was announced from his cabinet, began his official visit to the Slovenia with the President of the State Natasha Pirc Musar on the hill near Kranj, where he was received with the most state honors.

Two officials assessed that relations between Montenegro and Slovenia are excellent and are based on the principles of friendship, openness and mutual support.

Our relationships are characterized by historical closeness and sincere friendship of citizens of two countries who have not been part of the same country, the old Yugoslavia and have maintained a sense of closeness and trust. On this solid basis, we develop constructive cooperation in all bilateral fields that strengthened by the NATO alliance. We will never forget that Slovenia is the first country to open its embassy in Podgorica, after the renovation of Montenegrin statehood and we are grateful for your continuing commitment and supporting the consequences of Montenegrin foreign policy goals - Milatović said.

He thanked Slovenia to the affirmation of the European Perspective of the Western Balkans, which, as he said, the only guarantee of the stability of the region.

Now that we are resolved to speed up reforms with the aim of reciprocating to the European Union, it is important to us that Slovenia is our voice and promoter, because the membership of Montenegro is a positive signal that the process of expansion is alive, and in this context is a good message to the rest of the countries. The Western Balkans and Eastern Europe - Milatović said.

He added that the Montenegro JNA proposal to Slovenia received consent to organize the following summit of the Brunion process in our country.

At the same time, it is added, it was also agreed that Montenegro is hosting the large economic forum between the two countries next year.

Milatovic said Montenegro especially appreciates Slovenia to the headquarters for the seat against cybercrime and cyber security, and believes that, with intensive cooperation in the field of defense, science and culture, an important pledge of friendship.

He pointed out that the two states should work on strengthening economic cooperation through a greater presence of Slovenian companies and investments in Montenegro, the strengthening of trade, tourist transport and projects in the field of infrastructure, energy, innovation and agriculture.

He concluded that in this way, the level of economic relations on the level of political, put another stamp on great cooperation that will continue in the coming period.

The Montenegrin president congratulated the Slovenia's choice for the unsteaded member of the United Nations Security Council for the period 2024-2025 to believe that it will provide a strong contribution to the preservation of international peace, security, protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms.

During the day, he will meet with the President of the State Association by Urk Klakočar Zupančić and the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign and European Jobs with Tanja Fajon.

As stated, meetings with Montenegrin students in Slovenia and representatives of the diaspora are also planned.
