The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Montenegro to the United States of America, Jovan Mirković, handed over his letters of credence to the President of the United States, Joseph Biden, officially taking office.
As announced by the MFA, at the meeting it was assessed that the two countries have a long history of friendly relations, and gratitude was expressed for the personal support that President Biden provided during the integration of Montenegro into Euro-Atlantic structures and the wider international community.
Mirković expressed his willingness to work on further strengthening bilateral ties, with the belief that Montenegro and the USA will continue to improve cooperation in areas of mutual interest, with a focus on economic cooperation, the fight against climate change, the preservation of energy security and the promotion of democracy.
Congratulating Mirković on taking office, Biden pointed out that Montenegro and the USA share almost 150 years of friendship, and pointed to their mutual commitment to trade, investments, security and cultural exchange. Along these lines, he added that the presence of Ambassador Mirković will be of essential importance for maintaining strong ties between the two countries, concluded the MFA.
