Montenegro has extradited Do Kwon to the United States, the Police Directorate announced.
"Today, at the Podgorica Airport border crossing, officers of the NCB INTERPOL Podgorica, with the support of the Special Police Unit, extradited South Korean citizen D.H.K., who was wanted by two countries, South Korea and the United States," the police said.
He was arrested on March 23, 2023 in Montenegro, and today, December 31, was extradited to the competent law enforcement authorities of the United States of America and agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
"And pursuant to the decision of the Ministry of Justice of Montenegro, for the purpose of conducting criminal proceedings in the United States of America for the criminal offenses: conspiracy to commit fraud in connection with (a) a contract for the sale of goods, (b) the purchase and sale of securities, and (v) the transfer of interstate remittances, the criminal offense of fraud in connection with a contract for the sale of goods and aiding and abetting, the criminal offense of fraud in connection with the purchase and sale of securities, as well as aiding and abetting, the criminal offense of electronic fraud and aiding and abetting, and the criminal offense of conspiracy to commit fraud in connection with (a) a contract for the sale of goods, (b) the purchase and sale of securities, (v) manipulation of security prices, and (g) the transfer of interstate remittances," the police statement concluded.
