Montenegro has withdrawn from the race for a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in the period 2026-2027.
Although our country entered this race back in 2008, its candidacy has now been definitively withdrawn. According to available information, we were in the race for this prestigious seat with Latvia, but Montenegro was left without a real chance of becoming part of this UN body, writes Dan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Ervim Ibrahinović, has not yet officially announced the reasons why Montenegro withdrew, nor has the Government made a public statement on the matter.
