Mugoša called for dialogue on the formation of the city government

AUTHOR:M.J. GDNUS

The leader of the European Alliance list in Podgorica, Boris Mugoša, called for dialogue on the formation of the city government, the leaders, or representatives of the electoral lists "Word and deed" - Dr Nermin Abdić, "Jakov Milatović - For a better Podgorica" and "Time is for order" - Party of European Progress Duško Marković.

The meeting is scheduled for 23.12. at 5 pm.

We are transmitting the letter from the leader of the European Alliance list to Nermin Abdić, Luka Rakčević and Ilija Mugoša in full:

"Dear,

Considering that the final deadlines for the constitution of the city government are approaching, after the elections for the Assembly of the Capital City, held on 29 September 2024, I am deeply convinced that we all have a special responsibility towards the citizens of Podgorica to make a strong effort to establish a responsible city administration.

Citizens have expressed their free will in the elections with their votes and have given political entities the opportunity to act responsibly and, within the legally prescribed deadlines, form the government in the Capital City. The results of the local elections in Podgorica represent not only an expression of the free will of citizens, but also the foundation for building a modern, responsible and transparent city administration, which will serve the interests of citizens, and not narrow party goals. I believe that this support obliges us all together to respect the electoral will of our citizens expressed in this way.

I hope that we are all jointly committed to being focused exclusively on the needs and interests of all citizens of Podgorica and that we will act accordingly in the coming days. I believe that our common goal is to create a discontinuity in relation to the current environment and image of the Capital City. In this way, we can prevent potential problems that Podgorica could face in the event of continued institutional uncertainty and the lack of a stable city administration.

In this regard, as the leader of the European Union list in the elections for the Capital City Assembly, I would like to launch an initiative for talks between political entities that won mandates in the September elections and that sent clear pre-election messages about the necessity of changes in the Capital City.

In this regard, I invite you, or rather the representatives of the electoral list that you led, to a dialogue on the formation of the city government. I believe that only through an inclusive and responsible dialogue can we reach an agreement that will ensure the intensive development of Podgorica and establish a local government that will be an example for the whole of Montenegro.

I am free to propose that the meeting be held on Monday, December 23rd at 5 pm at the Crowne Plaza Hotel (CUE)."
