At today's session of the Parliament, without citing facts, Democrat MP Boris Bogdanović accused journalists from three Montenegrin media outlets of working for organized crime groups, stating that "texts that protect dirty police officers, officers and non-commissioned officers are not written to be read, but to be cashed in".
Bogdanović's statement to Antena M was commented on by M portal editor Danica Nikolić, who said that it was not the first time that accusations had been heard from Democrats MPs, but added that it had not hindered them from doing their job.
"The statement is very mundane, vulgar, inhuman... It is clear that in the political space it is allowed to say whatever one thinks, it is clear that he is protected by parliamentary immunity, unlike journalists in Montenegro who are not even protected by institutions, let alone any immunity. It is clear that Boris Bogdanović is trying to score political points with his voters, who are becoming fewer and fewer, we can see this from the election results, and that they need a scandal of this kind to continue manipulating the public as they have been doing for years," says Nikolić.
The editor of the M portal denies the allegations of the Democratic MP.
"Of course, it is not true that we receive that much money. Today, I and my colleagues from the IT sector reviewed our text database. Over 100,000 texts have been published on our portal in three years, both our own and texts taken from other media. Of those 100,000 texts, I published around 1,000, the majority of which relate to the activities of criminal clans in Montenegro. According to what Boris Bogdanović claims, our portal should now be in the red by 8 million euros. Of course, there is nothing to that. The amount of one text that he mentions is the amount of all salaries combined on our portal because we are a small editorial office and operate with little money, so we no longer need it," Nikolić explained.
