Nikolić: From UP and ANB, who did not know that the mafia was digging a tunnel for them in the city center, we expect them to abandon politics and return to their constitutional competences

It is very dangerous when the security sector, which has been exposed to a constant struggle for supremacy since the beginning of this government's mandate, is placed at the service of politics. How else to evaluate the joint positions of UP and ANB, presented in the statement which concludes that the former President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, is not in danger of assassination, except that they were placed to prepare the ground for the reaction of the Europe Now Movement, which tried to politically profits, according to the statement signed by Andrija Nikolić, president of the DPS Deputies Club.
If it is known, and based on data from Western security services, that Đukanović's murder was planned both before and during 2016, then what can the fact that the number of members of the former President of Montenegro was reduced after leaving office say about the professionalism of our security services? security. What can we say about the fact that ANB, after recently receiving information about a potential threat to assassinate the former president, did not inform the Police Directorate about it?! With yesterday's announcement, the UP and ANB showed that they are ready to use the security sector as an institutional platform for the politics of the ruling parties with statements, at the level of Baba Vanga, they emphasize in the announcement.
The security sector, which had no information that the mafia in the center of the city had been digging a tunnel to the courthouse for days, is not expected to effectively predict and prevent events that threaten the security of the state or citizens. Unfortunately, this is the reality we live in, since incompetent and armchair-hungry politicians have put pressure on every segment of the state administration, employing loyal, but mostly unknown and incompetent personnel.
No serious security service would dare to announce that a highly protected person was not threatened with assassination. Neither the Security Information Agency of Serbia knew that an assassination was threatening Zoran Djindjic, nor did the US Secret Service or the FBI know that the assassination of Donald Trump was being prepared.
Instead of thoughtless announcements, which do not contribute to making ordinary citizens, let alone protected persons, feel safe, we call on the Police Directorate and the National Security Agency to avoid politics and return to their constitutional competences, Andrija Nikolić, president of the DPS Deputies Club, concludes in a statement.
