Nikolić: We will not be in the hall when the vote is held; Mandić finally remembered to support something good for Montenegro and we are supposed to believe it?

Montenegrin MPs have begun a debate on the Draft Law on Ratifying the Agreement between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of the United Arab Emirates on Economic Cooperation and the Draft Law on Ratifying the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Tourism and Real Estate Development between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of the United Arab Emirates.

A protest was organized in front of the Parliament building by 18 non-governmental organizations with the support of the citizens of Ulcinj against the adoption of the Agreement with the UAE.

President of the state Jakov Milatović yesterday called on MPs to consider all the arguments of the Agreement before voting.

Minister Majda Adžović said that if the municipality of Ulcinj does not want an investment in Velika Plaza or some other location, that investment will not happen.

"If any municipality does not want to implement the projects, those investments will not happen. On the other hand, if any municipality wants to participate in investment projects, the Government will be there to provide support and help those municipalities to further implement the investments," said Adžović.

President and MP of the Democratic Union of Albanians Mehmed Zenka states that this is another scam.

"How will you guarantee that when you have legal powers? It is typical of you to say one thing today and another tomorrow. Whoever thinks that the Government has found a compromise, this does not guarantee anything," said Zenka.

PES MP Jelena Nedović states that instead of rejoicing today that we have a credible investor, we have been listening to stories, spin, and attacks on MPs for days.

"We fought for this. Freedom of speech, thought, protest, so everyone's different opinion is welcome. This agreement will not sell land, concrete beaches, and this agreement does not violate the laws of Montenegro. This government wants to develop Montenegro and bring in credible investors. No one can say that we are not talking about credible investors for Alabara and Eagle Hills," says Nedović.

He adds that this agreement also gives other poor municipalities a chance.

DPS MP Nikola Rakočević says that the only good thing is that after five years of expelling investors, we are talking about investments.

"What is not good is the way it is being done. From 2006 to 2020, we had 14 billion euros in investments, from 2020 to today we have zero euros in investments. Montenegro is in serious economic problems that this parliamentary majority has dragged it into. Spajić has created a serious problem for investors through a charlatan, frivolous, unconstitutional and illegal process that is supposedly supposed to provide Montenegro with what investments are. We cannot support an agreement that is based on non-inclusiveness, non-transparency and illegality," Rakočević points out.

URE leader Dritan Abazović thanked everyone who attended the protest in front of the Parliament. Abazović claims that no one has ever had the nerve to come before the citizens with such a document.

"Everyone should identify themselves with their first and last name so that Montenegro can be given as a gift. This agreement is not to sell land and lease it, but to give away the most beautiful pearls of Montenegro. We may be a poor municipality, but we have our own dignity. There is no sheik with millions who can buy our dignity. If they start concreteing the Great Beach, there will be no more room for us there. Everything will be closed like Sveti Stefan. I call on the Ulcinj Municipal Assembly to come to new conclusions, we will defend ourselves," says Abazović.

SD MP Boris Mugoša says that it is a ridiculous story that someone is against investments.

"It's hypocritical that you're saying this, you haven't brought a single credible investor since the "liberation". There have been no such agreements in the history of Montenegro. As soon as you introduced public interest into the agreement, the Constitution says that no one's property can be taken away unless there is a public interest. Now you're introducing this with this agreement, that you don't ask people about private property, but you take it because you agreed with another state that a project is public interest, that apartments are for sale, public interest.", Mugoša said.

He suggested that the process be slowed down, and that a mini-public debate be held.

"We have room for that, and you want to force it to be voted on like you wanted on Thursday. This is about the property of Montenegrin citizens and we won't let you do that," Mugoša said.

HGI leader Adrijan Vuksanović states that he and Zenka went to consult with Spajić, who told them that an agreement would be reached in parliament in a month.

"We went to a hotel and heard that the debate would be held next week. The waiters have more accurate information than our prime minister. This is not just a matter for Ulcinj and Albanians, but for the whole of Montenegro. Ulcinj has overwhelmingly supported an independent Montenegro. Our club will not support agreements with the Emirates," said Vuksanović.

President and MP of the Democratic Union of Albanians Mehmed Zenka says that the story changes every day.

"Do you think we don't know that this story is not from today. Don't forget one thing, you are too much of a thoroughbred horse "You have taken to riding. You continue to ride donkeys because you are not for the better. What is the legal remedy for protecting the interests of citizens. Where can citizens complain whose land will be taken away?", asked Zenka.

Albanian Alliance MP Ilir Čapuni states that when they told the Prime Minister during consultations that it was a megalomaniacal project, the Prime Minister told them "Go big or go home".

Albanian Forum MP and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro Nikola Camaj said that his party's position will be the same as his colleague from Ulcinj.

"We must leave something for future generations. The project itself was accompanied by speed, ambiguity and the bad image of similar projects from the past," Camaj pointed out.

The debate on the Draft Law on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of the United Arab Emirates on Economic Cooperation has ended.

The session was adjourned for 10 minutes.

The session continued, and the deputies are now discussing the Draft Law on the Confirmation of the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Tourism and Real Estate Development between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of the United Arab Emirates.

DPS MP Andrija Nikolić states that after 2020, the development of Montenegro was deliberately stopped.

"Montenegro Airlines was shut down, you continued to expel investors, you drove Aman out of Montenegro. You were beheading people so that you could roast piglets and lambs during the summer tourist season. That is your vision. "Has Mandić finally remembered to support something good for Montenegro and we should believe in it?", says Nikolić.

He adds that this agreement is the beginning of the end of the parliamentary majority.

"I have no doubt that it is in your interest to do everything to make Montenegro economically dependent on our neighboring country. DPS will not be in the hall when this is voted on. Take responsibility for the political decisions you make today," Nikolić emphasizes.

DNP leader Milan Knežević asks Minister Adžović why a public debate was not organized?

"Is this law on the ratification of the agreement in line with the Constitution? Is it in the public interest to evict us from the property?", asked Knežević.

Albanian Alliance MP Ilir Čapuni said that not only Ulcinj, but the whole of Montenegro is protesting the haste, clumsiness and lack of transparency of this agreement.

"It takes 30 days to get an ID card in Montenegro, and it hardly takes 35 billion euros less to sign the agreement. "I am convinced that with this agreement we are also jeopardizing Montenegro's European perspective," said Čapuni.

Artan Čobi from the Alba Forum said that he would not support the agreement with the Emirates.
