At this moment, both the parliamentary and local opposition in Nikšić have a decisive victory in the city, stated Andrija Nikolić, the head of the parliamentary club of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), at a press conference.
"We will not allow various mechanisms to call into question the opposition’s victory. We have been informed that there is pressure being applied to employees in state and local administrations and companies in the lead-up to the elections, and we want to inform all employees to contact us if they face such pressures," said Nikolić, announcing that the DPS legal team would provide full legal protection to those citizens.
The DPS also called on the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) to announce how many duplicate voters have been registered in Nikšić and Herceg Novi.
"If I tell you that there are over 200 people from Trebinje unidentifiable in the Nikšić voter list, then the scale of the abuse is clear. In Nikšić, a public event called the 'Ostroški Half Marathon' is scheduled on election day, which raises legal concerns, and we have reacted by sending letters to the MUP and the State Election Commission (DIK)," Nikolić said, adding that the event was registered at an inconvenient time.
The head of the DPS parliamentary group emphasized that they expect the relevant authorities to refuse to approve the event and advise the organizers to hold it on another day.
"What we see from one cycle to the next is the importation of voters from the Republic of Srpska (RS) and Serbia. This is nothing new. Just imagine how many there are in Nikšić and Herceg Novi, which are closely connected to the borders," Nikolić pointed out, urging the people of Nikšić to vote in large numbers.
Commenting on the recent statement by priest Mijajlo Backović, who called Croats in Boka Kotorska a "project," Nikolić said that he interprets such a statement as a sign of obvious irresponsibility and immaturity.
"It is necessary to heat up the atmosphere ahead of the elections and strengthen the chances for the protégés of priest Backović," said the DPS MP.
As for the contract signed by Prime Minister Milojko Spajić with the UAE, Nikolić stated that they will monitor developments.
"We'll see what happens. But what struck us from the beginning is the lack of transparency, and this process should have been more inclusive regarding the participation of the local community in Ulcinj," emphasized the head of the DPS parliamentary club.
