On July 11, on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, the leaders of the newly formed European Union, Damir Šehović, Ivan Vujović and Vatroslav Belan, will attend the commemoration at the Memorial Center in Potočari, the alliance announced.
During the commemoration, the identified remains of another 14 victims will be buried.
- In addition to honoring the Srebrenica victims in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Šehović, Vujović and Belan will also have several meetings with local officials, including the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Denis Bećirović - the announcement states.
They remind that, according to the judgments of the international and courts in Bosnia and Herzegovina, more than 8,000 Bosniaks were killed in Srebrenica in July 1995.
- On June 17, 2021, the Parliament of Montenegro adopted the Resolution on the condemnation of the genocide in Srebrenica. At the session held on May 23 this year, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted a Resolution declaring July 11 as the International Day of Remembrance and Commemoration of the Genocide in Srebrenica 1995. The resolution condemns the denial of genocide and the glorification of war criminals. After the adoption of the Resolution, tributes to the victims are being paid all over the world - said the European Union.
