The petition to protect Velika Plaza has been signed by 11,229 citizens so far.
Recall that the petition "Velika Plaza for future generations, not for private interests" was launched on April 3, and the aforementioned number of signatures was collected in two weeks.
Among the signatories are people from abroad, who support stopping the devastation of the aforementioned site near Ulcinj.
The petition was launched by the Center for the Protection and Study of Birds, NGO EnvPro, NGO Parkovi Dinarida, Center for Investigative Journalism, NGO KANA / ko akto ne arhitekt, Dr Martin Schneider-Jacoby Association, CEE Bankwatch Network, NGO Montenegrin Society of Ecologists, NGO Green Home, NGO MogUL, Portal Ulcinj info and NGO Network for the Affirmation of the Non-Governmental Sector.
As they pointed out, the signed agreement with the UAE will enable long-term lease and "valorization" of our most valuable natural sites. It also opens the door for investors from the UAE to take over multiple locations across the country, without transparent procedures and public insight.
“The idea of leasing all 12 km of Velika Plaza for as long as 99 years was presented to the public just a few days before the signing of the agreement, which implies the construction of tourist complexes, marinas, airports, etc., and thus its permanent, irreversible loss for citizens,” the text accompanying the petition states, among other things.
