Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović (BS) has appointed former long-time Speaker of the Parliament Ranko Krivokapić (SDP) as Minister-Advisor.
As reported by Vijesti, this can be seen in the list of employees at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs published on the Government's website on April 23.
It is stated that Krivokapić is a Minister-Advisor, which is a high-ranking diplomatic title.
"Vijesti" sent questions to the MFA when Krivokapić was appointed as an advisor, what his job description is and how much he is paid.
According to Article 72 of the Law on Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Foreign Affairs may, without public announcement, issue a decision on the employment of "a person with appropriate experience in scientific and research work, significant diplomatic experience, professional titles and skills or experience in working in international and other organizations".
"Persons referred to in paragraph 1 of this Article shall enter into a fixed-term employment relationship," the Law states.
Krivokapić was the President of the Parliament of Montenegro from 2003 to 2016, and in 2022 he briefly served as Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Government of Dritan Abazović.
He was the President of the Social Democratic Party of Montenegro (SDP) from 2001 to 2019. He is the Honorary President of the SDP.
