STEGA calls for protest in front of Villa Gorica: Let's preserve the dignity of the July 13th Award

AUTHOR:M.J. GDNUS

The Editorial Office for Culture of the Strategy for European and Civic Montenegro - STEGA today called for a protest gathering on the occasion of the awarding of this year's July 13th Award.

As stated by STEGA, the gathering is planned for Tuesday at 8 am in front of the entrance to Villa Gorica.

"With the message No Pasaran! let's preserve the dignity of the July 13th Award," the invitation states.

On this occasion, STEGA will hold a press conference tomorrow, July 7, starting at 10 am at the entrance to Villa Gorica.

The topic of the press is the announcement of a blockade and protest on Tuesday regarding the illegal awarding of the highest state award of Montenegro.

STEGA previously stated that the decisions of this year's Jury for the 13th of July Award - or rather, the majority within it, which consists of exponents of the current government - represent another derivative of the overall degradation of institutional life in Montenegro. "Instead of being a beacon by which true excellence is recognized and confirmed, it has become a cover for aesthetic banality, ethical relativism and cultural regression. With rare exceptions, works and authors are chosen as paradigms of contemporary Montenegrin culture that not only do not reach artistic standards but often contain open messages of intolerance, denial of one's own tradition and misunderstanding of human and cultural diversity," STEGA said.
