The former director of the Police Administration, Slavko Stojanović, and the resident of Nikšić, Igor Baćović, were ordered to be detained for up to 30 days after the hearing in the High Court in Podgorica.
They were detained by judge Suzana Mugoša, reports Vijesti.
Stojanović is charged with abuse of official position and smuggling.
Stojanović's defense attorney, lawyer Mihailo Volkov, told reporters after the hearing that his client completely denies and rejects the claims of the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) that he abused his official position.
As a pensioner, he cannot influence the witnesses - added Volkov.
Stojanović was arrested on Saturday by officers of the Special Police Department (SPO) on the order of the SDT, on suspicion of abuse of official position in connection with cigarette smuggling.
