Summit completed in Vilnus, Milatović: Montenegro a credible partner that has a constructive role in the region

The President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović said the NATO summit in Vilnius that Podgorica was a criminal partner alliance, which tries a constructive role in Regina to affirm stability and democracy. He glad, as he said, which he had the opportunity to lead the Montenegrin delegation to the NATO summit.

This summit is organized at a critical moment for Euro-Atlantic security. I want to congratulate our hosts, our Allies, Lithuania, for hospitality and all the efforts they invested in order to make this summit successful. In the context of the most challenging security situation in Europe, since the period of the Cold War, while the unjustified and nothing caused by the Russian war in Ukraine, NATO is as always in its 75 years of debt demonstrated unity. I think that's the most important message - said Milatovic.

He also emphasized that he was especially glad that the Alliance today is stronger and safer for two new members, Finland, and soon Sweden.

I consider this especially important in the context of current geopolitical circumstances. The summit are made by key decisions to strengthen deterrent and defense policies, and new regional plans for the defense of the Allied Territory - said the Montenegrin president.

Speaking of Support Ukraine, he emphasized that it was decided to rebuild investment in defense, this time with at least two percent of GDP. He stated that he was happy that Montenegro achieved that goal and will continue to fulfill it.

When it comes to Ukraine, Milatovic said the position of Montenegro was clear.

Each state has a sovereign right to choose its foreign policy commitment, including membership in international organizations, and we will always act in defending that principle. In this sense, the relationship between NATO and Ukraine was erected to the higher new, by forming the NATO-Ukraine Council. A strong message was sent to the Ukraine of the future member of NATO - said Milatović.

He stated that Montenegro criminal partner alliance, which trudes a constructive role in regina to affirm stability and democracy.

We share the concerns of the Alliance on the occasion of Kosovo, and invite both parties to deescalation of tensions and dialogue to normalize relations within the platform offered by the EU - said Milatović.

He emphasized that he was glad that BiH delegation was at the summit, pointing out that Montenegro supports reform processes in that country.

During the presence of the summit, I made several chiefs and the governments of our allies, who I informed about the situation in our country especially in the conkect of the formation of the new, pro-European government, said Milatovic.

He stated that a strong message of Ukraine was sent at the summit to have the perspective of future NATO membership.
