On the occasion of the Montenegrin Army Day, a reception was held in Brussels organized by the Permanent Mission of Montenegro to NATO, the Mission of Montenegro to the EU and the Embassy of Montenegro in Belgium.

The host was Defense Minister Dragan Krapović, and representatives of the diplomatic and military-diplomatic corps, as well as representatives of the Montenegrin diaspora in Belgium and Luxembourg, were present. The meeting, however, was not attended by the diplomatic representative of Montenegro in Brussels, Andrej Bracanović, who was at the reception at the Serbian embassy at that moment.

Namely, the new head of the Mission of Serbia to the EU in Brussels, Danijel Apostolović, published on his Instagram account footage from the event, and Bracanović was visible among the guests.

It is not clear why the Montenegrin diplomatic representative decided to miss the official reception on the occasion of the Montenegrin Army Day, and Antena M addressed questions to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which should explain why Bracanović was not at the reception organized by his own country, but chose to at that moment he was at an event organized by the Embassy of Serbia.

Andrej Bracanović's absence from the reception caused speculation in diplomatic circles, interpreting Bracanović's presence at Serbia's reception as a potential sign of a personal political stance. Especially since such events usually serve as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation and coordination within the diplomatic corps, and Bracanović as the diplomatic representative of Montenegro in Brussels should have an important role in that case.

Who is Andrej Bracanovic?

Andrej Bracanović was appointed as the diplomatic representative of Montenegro in Brussels in November last year. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Montenegro in 2008.

He finished his specialist studies by defending his specialist thesis "Legal status of church endowments".

After completing his postgraduate specialist studies, in 2009, he enrolled in postgraduate master's studies at the University of Donja Gorica, majoring in Civil Law, which he completed in 2013 with the defense of his master's thesis on the topic "Legal status of church endowments with a special focus on South Slavic countries".

He was one of the six members of the expert team for analyzing the constitutionality and legality of the Basic Agreement before its signing with the Serbian Orthodox Church.
