The Montenegrin rescuers did not go to Turkey, the embassy suggested that the trip be postponed

Over 50 Montenegrin rescuers did not go to Turkey tonight, in order to search and rescue the population from the ruins, at the request of the Turkish Embassy in Podgorica. According to the information that the RTCG received from the Podgorica service and rescue, Turkey, affected by the earthquake, cannot receive everyone who would like to help the endangered population.
The Podgorica service said that they were ready for the trip, and that they were just waiting for the signal from the embassy to leave.
Going to help will happen in the following days, most likely tomorrow.
Earlier today, the Government of Montenegro made a decision to send a search and rescue team to Turkey.
That decision was made today, at a telephone session, based on the obtained consent of the majority of the members of the Government.
In the Information on sending the search and rescue team, it is stated that the Government of Turkey sent a request for help, through the Civil Protection Mechanism of the Union, NATO and the United Nations, to save the population from the earthquake that hit that country.
"Due to search and rescue from the ruins, the Government of Turkey requested international assistance in the form of light, medium and heavy teams for search and rescue from the ruins, as well as medical teams and equipment," the information reads.
It is stated that the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP), in cooperation with municipal protection and rescue services and with the consent of municipalities and firefighters-rescuers, prepared a team for search and rescue from the ruins - light USAR, which includes 18 firefighters-rescuers and five members of the Directorate for protection and rescue.
In the Information, it is written that the Directorate for Protection and Rescue provided the team with work overalls, a fire belt, a protective helmet, work gloves, work shoes, sleeping bags, first aid kits, hats, woolen gloves, means of communication - TETRA radio stations, two modems and a drone.
"For operational purposes, the team needs to provide winter jackets, underwear (active underwear), cotton tracksuits, a bag with medicines and disinfectants and surgical gloves, a bank card with the amount of 10 thousand euros for the team leader and unlimited mobile internet for the management team (five person)", it is stated in the adopted document.
It is added that it is also necessary to provide insurance for team members.
"However, we received information that they are unable to send help in the form of doctors and lower medical staff," the document says.
The southern part of Turkey, 26 kilometers east of Sekeroba, near the border with Syria, was hit early this morning by a powerful earthquake measuring 7.8 degrees on the Richter scale.
Several hundred buildings were destroyed and many people were trapped.
The earthquake hit ten cities, including Gaziantep, Kahramanmaras, Hatai, Osmaniye, Adijaman, Malatya, Sanliurfa, Adana, Dijarbakir and Kilis.
