The most complex situation is still in the capital, in Piperi and Kuči

As for active fires on the territory of Montenegro, the most complex situation is still in the capital, in Piperi and Kuči. Of the new fires, we had a fire in Beri, which was extinguished, and as for Dajbabska gora, the active fire has already been completely extinguished several times and soldiers and volunteers are dousing that terrain, said Vojin Vojinović, head of the Regional Unit of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue in Podgorica.

As for the municipality of Danilovgrad, there is an active fire in Topolovo, but that road has been cut off so that the fire does not spread towards Studeno and the cottages are not threatened. A new fire in that territory occurred in Bajramovica, but with aerial action and fire rescuers from Danilovgrad, the fire was brought under control, said Vojinović.

As for the municipality of Nikšić, after the action of the Air Tractor aircraft, the situation is much better, but the fire is still active.

In Bijelo Polje, a fire is active in Žuber, but two military helicopters have been redirected to that area and according to the commander and officers of the Directorate of the Bijelo Polje regional unit, the situation is much better, said Vojin Vojinović, Head of the Regional Unit of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue in Podgorica.

Chief of the General Staff of the Army of Montenegro Miodrag Vuksanović on the current actions of our members in the field

Members of the Army of Montenegro are still engaged in extinguishing fires in several locations, including Kučka korita, Dajbabska gora and the Pipera area, while helicopters of our Air Force are continuously participating in the fight against the flames.

The field in Kuči was visited by the Chief of the General Staff, Brigadier General Miodrag Vuksanović, who stressed that the situation with the fires is extremely difficult, but that members of the Army of Montenegro are continuously doing their utmost to protect the lives of citizens, their property and the natural resources of Montenegro.

General Vuksanović thanked the citizens for their support, especially those who provided a pool for faster filling and emptying of the helicopter baskets, which significantly accelerated the extinguishing process.

"The Army of Montenegro will, in cooperation with other institutions, continue its firefighting activities until the danger is completely eliminated.

Our mission remains clear - to preserve the safety and property of all citizens and protect nature, which is the common wealth of Montenegro," he said.

Bešović: The situation in Kučke Korita is better

"The situation is much better than it was yesterday, according to some information we received from the Army of Montenegro, this morning this place was completely stable and without any fires. Later in the day it was activated again due to higher temperatures, and as you can see, both locals and members of the army are currently there, but helicopters of the Army of Montenegro were operating this morning and managed to mostly extinguish this fire. We hope that the situation will be better during the day, locals with backpacks and 25 members of the Army of Montenegro are on standby," said Miodrag Bešović, General Director of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, after visiting the Kučke Korita area.
