The new Chief of General Staff of the Army of Montenegro, Brigadier General Miodrag Vuksanović, assumed the post today.
A ceremony attended by the command staff of the Army was held at the Ministry of Defense, which officially marked the beginning of the mandate of the new Chief of General Staff, according to the Ministry's website.
General Vuksanović met with Minister of Defense Dragan Krapović. The interlocutors exchanged views on key security challenges, priorities of the defense sector and plans for improving the capabilities of the Army of Montenegro.
Krapović emphasized that this appointment represents an important milestone in the modernization and strengthening of the Montenegrin defense system.
He emphasized that human resources and fundamental institutional reform are priorities in the period ahead, and that the goal is to create a modern, efficient and responsible army, based on the values of honor, knowledge and responsibility.
"This is our duty to the citizens of Montenegro and an obligation to those who serve it honorably today," said Krapović.
Vuksanović thanked for the trust shown and said that his duty will be guided by a sense of responsibility towards every member of the Montenegrin Army.
"Our mission is clear - a stable, trained and operationally ready army that meets the requirements of the modern security environment. I am aware of the importance of the rank I hold, I believe in the professionalism of my colleagues, as well as in the capacity of the system to respond to all challenges together," he said.
General Vuksanović held a meeting with the command staff of the Montenegrin Army.
On that occasion, he presented his vision of the future development of the Montenegrin Army, emphasizing the need to continue strengthening operational capabilities, greater investments in human resources and modernization of the structure, the Ministry of Defense concluded in its announcement.
