The Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) announced that criminal cases regarding war crimes in Morinje, Bukovica and Kaluđerski laz and the deportation of refugees from Herceg Novi have been reopened.
The cases were, as stated, reopened by order of the Chief Special Prosecutor Vladimir Novović.
The cases were assigned to special prosecutors who are specialized in war crimes according to their annual work schedule.
"Special investigation teams have been formed in the newly opened cases, in accordance with the Law on the Special State Prosecutor's Office, which will, among other things, analyze previously opened criminal cases regarding the same events in which criminal proceedings have been legally concluded, with the obligation to obtain new evidence, as well as to search the database of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals," the statement said.
As they said, before re-forming criminal cases, Novović adopted action plans in relation to war crimes cases that are in the investigation or survey phase, or in relation to events that are included in already completed war crimes proceedings, and in which he regulated the measures and activities that the SDT will undertake with the aim of making prosecutorial decisions as soon as possible, or considering legal options for further action based on available and possibly new evidence. "By adopting action plans, in the development of which the working group formed and led by the Chief Special Prosecutor also participated, the Special State Prosecutor's Office has begun fulfilling its obligations in accordance with the War Crimes Investigation Strategy 2024-2027 and the accompanying Action Plan for the Implementation of the War Crimes Investigation Strategy 2024-2025," the SDT announced.
