Alija Balijagić, a suspect in a double homicide, has just been extradited from Serbia to Montenegro.
Montenegro sought this individual based on an international arrest warrant issued by NCB INTERPOL Podgorica, in order to ensure his presence in a criminal case against him before the judicial authorities of our country. He is suspected of committing the crime of aggravated murder, in conjunction with the illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosive materials, as stated in a report from the Police Administration.
"A.B. (64) was arrested on November 21, 2024, around 03:00 AM in the village of Pribojska Goleška, municipality of Priboj. After the identification was confirmed by NCB INTERPOL Podgorica, further communication and international data exchange took place with NCB INTERPOL Belgrade, confirming that this was our internationally wanted person. He was then transferred to the Užice prison.
Following the extradition procedure, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia decided to extradite this individual to the relevant authorities in Montenegro for criminal proceedings regarding the aforementioned crimes.
Officers from NCB INTERPOL Podgorica, with assistance from the Special Police Unit’s tactical unit, took custody of the individual from the police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia. With increased security measures and a blocked movement route, A.B. was escorted to the Bijelo Polje Prison," the police statement reads.
