Zeković: Cultivating togetherness and remembering the victims of the coronavirus

Human rights activist Aleksandar Saša Zeković initiated, again this year, the initiative for the Government of Montenegro to declare March 22 as the Day of National Remembrance for all victims of the coronavirus in Montenegro. On that date in 2020, the first citizen of Montenegro died from the effects of the coronavirus.
Let's show that we learn from what happened, that we support the work of doctors and health workers and that we increase investments in public health so that they are more responsible and prepared for a future pandemic - Zeković pointed out.
He reminded that, in the past two years, the memory of all the victims was officially expressed by the majority of municipalities in Montenegro, including the capital and the capital, as well as the President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, who supported the initiative to erect in Podgorica or Cetijnje and permanent monument to all victims of the coronavirus.
It is important, regardless of all our differences, that we continue to cherish memories and solidarity. All the deceased were loved, respected and today we all miss them. Those were the moments when we didn't say goodbye to them the way we wanted and the way they deserved. Although the Government of Montenegro did not establish an appropriate program in 2021 and 2022, Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić still planted olive trees on the monastery estate in Tivat on that day, in memory of all the victims - Zeković said.
He expects the Government of Prime Minister Dritan Abazović to invite state bodies, services and institutions, local self-government units, the media, religious communities, trade unions, employers, political parties and non-governmental organizations to, through various commemorative activities, a minute of silence, flying flags at half-mast, a religious service and in other appropriate ways join the expression of memory and community.
On the occasion of the anniversary, I also sent letters to the President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, the President of the Assembly, Danijela Đurović, and the Minister of Health, Dragoslav Šćekić. Today, the Republic of Italy officially commemorates its victims with various appropriate programs. - Zeković concluded.
