Zirojević: Security sector in Montenegro compromised by personnel loyal to Serbian and Russian services

AUTHOR: M.J. GDNUS

That Montenegro has become a problem in the last four years, instead of a country that serves as an example to our European partners, and that the security sector in the country has been compromised by personnel close to Serbian and Russian services, said Social Democrat MP Nikola Zirojević at the Interparliamentary Conference on Common Foreign and Security Policy and Common Security and Defense Policy, which is being held in Warsaw from March 23 to 25.

"I am glad to hear the tones of support from our EU neighbors, colleagues from Croatia, and I am especially grateful for their call for support for truly pro-European, opposition forces in Montenegro," said Zirojević.

He pointed out that, unfortunately, Montenegro has become a problem state for our partners in the past four years, from an exemplary state.

"In order to change this situation, we need the support of all of you. In the current geopolitical situation, when the Balkans once again pose a serious security threat in Europe, when our, as we have heard, "guarantor of peace" is once again trying to provoke a conflict in Kosovo, and now to set Bosnia on fire, the security sector in Montenegro is deeply compromised by personnel loyal to the Serbian, or rather Russian, service, and a few days ago we had a public statement from the former head of the Serbian intelligence service who openly said that the former Prime Minister of Montenegro was under their control. Perhaps it is also current. The realistic assessment is that EU diplomacy has seriously failed in the Balkans and now is the right time to fix it. Let's do it together, because it is obvious that we need each other," Zirojević concluded his presentation in Warsaw.
