Čelanović: The formation of a government headed by Lekić would mean the end of Montenegro's EU integration

The formation of the 44th Government headed by the unconstitutional mandate holder Miodrag Lekić would, quite clearly, mean the end of Montenegro's EU integration, declared Social Democrat (SD) official Miloš Čelanović.

He said that the intention of 41 deputies in the Parliament to try to form an unconstitutional government in advance, based on an unconstitutional law, "however this attempt to collapse institutions ends, is doomed to fail."

The government that would be formed as a result of this law, it is quite clear, would not have any legitimacy, not only internally, but also externally. This is supported by messages, now no more, but warnings from our international partners, who, all but one, are united in the opinion that the vote of the Lekić Government would cause the negotiations with the EU to freeze - pointed out Čelanović.

According to him, serving the interests of the Democratic Front whose activities are fully coordinated from our neighboring country, each of the 41 deputies of the current majority will bear special responsibility for, as he said, satirizing the institutions of the state of Montenegro, trampling the Constitution and stalling negotiations with the EU.

The consequences of the latter, bearing in mind that Montenegro, as a candidate country, draws huge funds from EU funds, will be felt by all citizens in a relatively short period of time - emphasized Čelanović.

He said that the Social Democrats are the only political party that, as of August 30, 2020, inherits the continuity of the fight against the Government of Zdravko Krivokapić, then the Government of Dritan Abazović and now against the eventual Government of Miodrag Lekić.

We use another opportunity to call on the parties of the current majority to give up their insane, isolationist intention, to withdraw from legal circulation the unconstitutional law on the president, and to agree on the date of extraordinary parliamentary elections, and in the meantime, within the framework of the current convocation of the Parliament, secure the necessary majority and elect everyone 4 judges of the Constitutional Court - said Čelanović.
